FS East 2020 General Event Info & Registration Process

Jan/20 By

In 2020 we’re organising the fifth Formula Student East competition between 4th and 9th of August at the Zala ZONE Automotive Proving Ground in Hungary.

This season overall 85 teams of three categories are welcome to join us: we’re opening 45 combustion, 30 electric and 10 driverless slots.

We’re also providing the opportunity for teams to compete with the same car in multiple categories (EV&DV and CV&DV) if they’re able to get a starter position in both during event registration.

Previous year’s top teams are invited to pre-register for the event, as well as the Hungarian team with the best final result – the participation of the latter is sponsored by Association of Automotive Engineers as its initiative to support local teams.

To register for FS East 2020, all teams need a valid team profile that you’re able to create/update until 10:00 CET on 31st January. We’re opening the Team Registration platform on Tuesday 21st January, 2020 at 22:00 CET.

Event Registration starts on Friday 31st January, 2020 at 11:00 CET. Teams with a valid team profile will be able to fill out a quiz, we’re going to determine the registration order based on its results.

If you might not get a starter position, don’t give up! In Event Registration Period 4 the top waiting list teams will have the chance to upload their documents and get in when we have a vacancy on out starter lists.

FS East future

Dec/10 By

Dear Teams!

A few weeks ago, Formula Student Germany, by many regarded as the leading FS event in Europe, announced their road map for next few years. They took a bold step in concentrating on what they think is will be the most interesting challenge: EVs with autonomous driving features. In summary, there were two main points:

  • autonomous driving as part of all competition classes
  • phasing out of the combustion class, resulting in an all-EV competition by 2022

Many teams were then concerned about the future of certain vehicle classes as well as compatibility between events.
No Worries. The European events are working together to make sure that there will be no fragmentation and to cover the demand for CV event slots.

  • CV continues to exist as a competition class for now (including 2022)
  • CV will remain part of the FS Rules, curated by FSA and the other events offering this class
  • All cars compliant to the FS 2021/2022 Rules will be eligible to compete at FSEast

Now to expand on this a bit:
