Participants from 39 countries tried to get into FS East, literally from all over the world, like Canada to Australia. 133 of them aimed the combustion, 117 the electric and 38 the driverless category. These are HUGE numbers and we’re very grateful for your enthusiasm and support for our event!

FS East future

Dec/10 By

Dear Teams!

A few weeks ago, Formula Student Germany, by many regarded as the leading FS event in Europe, announced their road map for next few years. They took a bold step in concentrating on what they think is will be the most interesting challenge: EVs with autonomous driving features. In summary, there were two main points:

  • autonomous driving as part of all competition classes
  • phasing out of the combustion class, resulting in an all-EV competition by 2022

Many teams were then concerned about the future of certain vehicle classes as well as compatibility between events.
No Worries. The European events are working together to make sure that there will be no fragmentation and to cover the demand for CV event slots.

  • CV continues to exist as a competition class for now (including 2022)
  • CV will remain part of the FS Rules, curated by FSA and the other events offering this class
  • All cars compliant to the FS 2021/2022 Rules will be eligible to compete at FSEast

Now to expand on this a bit:

World Ranking List Update & FS East 2018

Aug/16 By

The World Ranking List update is published and we’re extremely proud to tell you that the competitiveness of Formula Student East 2017 has been ranked 0.99 which is currently the highest rate in the 2017 season, although the FSG results are yet to come. (;

From the beginnings the main goal of FS East and the organisers is to create a highly professional event for the teams and we keep going with this mindset. FS East was featured on the WRL right after the trial season in 2016 with a 0.89 competitiveness, therefore 0.99 is definitely a huge improvement. We’d like to thank all participating teams for being part of the event and we look forward to see you in 2018 as well!

Until then, we can share with you some highlights of our plans for the next season. From 2018, FS East is not going to be a mixed event anymore: combustion and electric cars will compete in separate categories. Autonomous technology is coming to FS East as well as we’d like to give the opportunity for driverless teams to be able to get challenged at an other competition besides Formula Student Germany.
